This role fulfills one of the most vital programs to Cleveland Clinic and its history by contributing to the open-heart surgery team. - -A PRN caregiver in this position has a weeknight on-call, weekend and holiday rotation. PRN caregivers in this position can also work Monday - Friday from 6:00AM - 4:30PM as needed. -A caregiver who excels in this role will: - -

• Deliver professional nursing care in an operative setting to adult and pediatric patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures. - -
  • Perform scrub functions, such as selecting and handling instruments and supplies. -
    • Performing circulating functions, such as monitoring, recording and communicating patients' conditions and managing the overall nursing care of patients before, during and after the procedure. - -
      • Assist the operating physician with surgical tasks, such as hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure and patient positioning. - -
        • Prepare the operating room, surgical instruments and surgical equipment for use. - -Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: - -
          • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. - -
            • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA). -
              • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). - -
                • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA). - -
                  • Internal applicants: one year of recent related clinical experience. - -

                      • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
                      • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
                      • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.Personal Protective Equipment:
