Job Description:

• Work with students with disabilities under supervision of teachers
• Ensure safety of students
• Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents
• Carry out other normal routine and extra activities necessary for the educational development of students with disabilities
• Must be able to deal appropriately with students who exhibit emotional or behavioral problems, aggressive behavior, or physical disabilities
• Occasional requirements to travel to grocery store/fields trips
• Occasional requirement to climb, kneel, sit, and balance
• Monitor and manage student behavior as directed by the teacher
• Assist students in the cafeteria, playground/recess, hall and/or classroom
• Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g. custody papers, medical records, communication with parents and other teachers
• Ability to carry out policies and procedures of the Board of Education and the Principal
• BCI/FBI check
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
