Registered Nurse (RN) Resident - Cardiovascular Stepdown - -Join

-Cleveland Clinic's J5-1 Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit sees some of
the most complex cardiac cases in the world. J5-1, along with J5-3
and J6-2, is dedicated to caring for patients receiving coronary
artery bypass surgery, valve repair or replacement, and minimally
invasive or off-pump coronary bypass surgery. In addition to the
post-operative open heart patient population, this unit also cares
for all cardiac related admissions, including Ventricular Assist
Devices (LVAD/RVAD), and Total Artificial Hearts (TAH). J5-1 also
takes patients that are actively weaning from ventilator support. -
-A caregiver in this position works a day/night rotation of 7:00am
- 7:30pm or 7:00pm - 7:30am. -A caregiver who excels in this role
will: - -
- Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual
learning needs. - -
- Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach. - -
- Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of
need, patient preference and resource availability). - -
- Respond to data indicating risk to patients' health and
initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk. - -
- Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to
perform safely and independently. - -
- Document in patients' medical records. - -Minimum
qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: - -
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing. - -
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). - -
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American
Heart Association (AHA). -
- New graduate RN OR less than one year of RN work experience.

- Requires full range of body motion including handling and
lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand
coordination.
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods of
time.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular
hours.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally,
and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than
negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move
objects.
- Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light
